Databases for academic subjects

  1. Log in to databases using your NetID/password when off-campus. It will be the same user name and password that you use to log in to the on-campus computers (netID@my.lsco.edu/password). Databases with the globe icon are freely available on the Web, no login required.
  2. Many database articles are in PDF format requiring Adobe Reader, a free download.
  3. Click tutorial icons to learn more about the databases, when available. Tutorials may require Adobe Flash Player, a free download.

  • Lexis-Nexis/Academic Lexis-Nexis Tutorial Full-text articles from newspapers, news magazines, legal sources, and business/company information.
  • MasterFILE Premier (Ebsco) Ebsco Tutorial Has more popular magazines and some academic journals when compared to Academic Search Complete. Check boxes to limit to full-text or scholarly journals as needed.
  • Opposing Viewpoints in Context (Gale) Opposing Viewpoints Tutorial Controversial topics, pro and con arguments, background information, from all types of sources.
  • Portal to Texas HistoryFreely available Internet resourceThe Portal is a gateway to Texas history materials (a great place to find Orange Texas history).
